|
'The Firm', the five-aside football team representing RKdia, the community café They are part of the ROKO Sports Centre 2nd division, and they are looking for promotion into the first division. Chris Adams, part of the RKdia football team says: "If we win this match on Wednesday, we will be going up, and that would be a huge thrill for everyone at RKdia." Chris, who is also the Project Co-ordinator for RKdia and the supported flats for young people that surround the centre in Knighton Corner, set up the five-a-side team after finding that some of the younger people living there felt rather isolated. Damien Lander, a team member said: "Having the footie team has been brilliant. It’s brought us together and given us something to look forwards to each week as well." Fellow team member Keith Jennings added: "Chris has fixed a penalty to the team, whereby we are dropped if we get into trouble, so this is an incentive to stay out of it!" Chris, who joined East Hampshire Housing Association (EHHA) in February 2001, is due to get married this Friday, at Thomas -a-Beckett Church in Warblinton: "This is of major importance to me and the lads, and even though I am due to get married a couple of days later, I wouldn't miss it for the world. However, I have been told not to get any bruises - but that might be a bit difficult, because this games means a lot." The match takes place on Wednesday 7th August at the Roko Sports Center, Copnor Road. Kick off 7.45 pm. |
